Accident with Fire
08-26-2007- For the 3rd time this summer volunteers from Dingman Township were dispatched to a vehicle accident with fire. This time the crews were sent at 16:16 hours to Gold Key Rd. near Slaymaker Rd. to find a full size cargo van had struck head on into a tree causing the engine compartment to burst into flames. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was removed prior to arrival of the FD by another motorist. Crews manning 26 Engine and 26 Tanker made quick work of the fire while the crew from Ambulance 268 tended to the driver. Pa. State Police at Blooming Grove and Gold Key Lake Security Dept. investigated the accident. Crews were in service for just over an hour.
Gold Key Accident Injures One
08-24-2007- Fire Station & Squad 26 units were dispatched at 22:20 hours to Gold Key Rd. in the area of Gap View Rd. for a single vehicle accident. Assistant Chief LaPadula (26-3) was the first to arrive on scene to find a sedan had struck a pine tree and all occupants were self extricated from the vehicle. With no need for FD services, Ambulance 268 made the response and transported one patient with a minor injury to the hospital.
3rd Accident on Newly Paved Road
08-20-2007- With a fresh topping of pavement, Log Tavern Rd. claimed it’s 3rd accident this evening. Shortly before 22:00 hours personnel were alerted for a two vehicle accident near the Pocono Water Forest entrance. 26 Rescue and Ambulances 268 & 269 responded to find a head crash between a passenger van and a small sedan. EMS crews assessed a total of five patients before transporting four of them to a local hospital for treatment. Fire crews secured hazards and controlled traffic during the incident. Crews operated for 90 minutes while Pa. State Police at Blooming Grove conducted their investigation.
Long Night for the Volunteers
08-17-2007- 26 Rescue, 26 Engine, and Ambulance 268 were dispatched at 00:09 hours for a motor vehicle accident on Locust Lake Dr. in Lake Adventure. Crews arrived to find a severely damaged sedan after striking nearly a dozen stationary objects including trees, rock walls, residential electrical boxes, and a utility pole. The driver, although suffering moderate injuries, was able to self extricate himself from the vehicle. The EMS crew after assessing the patient, requested Chief Mikulak to ask for a medical helicopter to transport the patient to the local trauma center. After securing the accident scene the fire crews responded to the Lake Adventure Ball Field and set up the landing zone for Life Flight 3. Units assisted with transferring the patient to the helicopter and returned to service at 02:18 hours. Crews were only back a half hour when they were dispatched to Lakewood Dr. in Pocono Water Forest to assist a resident with a medical issue. Personnel handled the assist quickly and were finally back in bed at 03:20 hours. Crews remained quiet until 22:00 hours when personnel were asked to assemble by Fire Station 41 while they investigated a heavy burning odor inside the Shohola Elementary School. Four complete crews stood by for fifty minutes before being released by 41 Command.
Two Calls for the Station this Evening
08-11-2007- Fire Station 26 was dispatched at 17:58 hours to Privet Ln. in Pocono Woodlands for an activated Carbon Monoxide alarm sounding. 26 Rescue and Ambulance 268 responded on the call along with 9 volunteers. Fire personnel checked the residence and found no signs of the deadly gas. Crews cleared the scene at 18:28 hours. At 23:07 hours the same apparatus was on the road again, this time for a motor vehicle accident on Log Tavern Road between Gold Key Lake and the Fire Station. Crews arrived to find a sedan that had overturned. Fire personnel secured hazards while the EMS crew assessed the driver. No injuries were noted. Crews returned from the accident at 00:24 hours. Ambulances 268 & 269 ran an additional 3 EMS calls throughout the day.
1st Accident for Newly Paved Road
08-03-2007- The newly paved Log Tavern Rd. claimed it’s first vehicle this evening. At 23:25 hours units were dispatched to the area of Crescent Lake for the accident. Crews arrived to find an SUV that went off the fresh roadway striking several large rocks and a guide wire for a utility pole. The driver was self extricated upon FD arrival. Fire personnel checked for hazards on scene while EMS personnel assessed the driver. With no further FD services needed crews returned at 23:59 hours
