Dingman Township Sends 3 Units to Delaware Structure Fire
03-07-07- Just before noon today the Delaware Township Fire Co. (Station 28) was dispatched to a reported chimney fire on Bernadette Dr. in Marcel Lakes. Within five minutes of the original call the call was upgraded to a working structure fire with multiple calls being receive by the County’s 9-1-1 Center. A short time later 28 Rescue and 28 Engine 1 both marked responding with driver only on board. Due to the light crew compliment Dingman Township Volunteers were alerted at 12:04 hours. At 12:10 hours eight personnel manning 26 Ladder, 26 Engine, and 26 Tanker made the 9.5 mile trip down the to scene. Delaware’s units arrived 12:13 hours to find a working fire and exhausted their tank water on the exterior attack on the visible fire on the “A/D” side of structure. 26 Ladder and 26 Tanker arrived at 12:25 hours and split with one crew mounting an aggressive interior attack on the 2nd floor while the 2nd crew laddered the exterior. The interior crew was able to make a successful initial attack on the 2nd floor and attic area prior to exhausting our water supply. 26 Engine was directed to establish a fill site for the now empty tankers only to find that the access to the lake blocked by snow. Marcel Lakes Maintenance Department responded and opened up the lake access. Due to delay in additional mutual aid arriving on the scene and the blocked lake access the fire quickly gained the upper hand throughout the residence. Milford Fire Department’s Tanker arrived on the scene next and supplied 26 Ladder’s aerial master stream for an exterior attack which knocked down the bulk of the fire. Additional resources from Bushkill Fire Co. (Engine and Tanker), Milford Fire Department (Engine and Tanker), and Westfall Fire Department (Engine) arrived and performed a variety of fireground operations. Crews from Dingman Township were on scene for just under four hours.
