Two Entrapped in Sunrise Accident

   

11-20-2007 - 14:53  Dingman Township along with assistance from Pike County ALS (Medic 401), Regional EMS (Medic 403)and Hemlock Farms Fire & Rescue Co. responded to an accident with entrapment and serious injury on Cabin Rd. in the Sunrise Lakes development.  26 Rescue, 26 Engine, and Ambulance 269 made the initial response and arrived on scene to find a sedan had struck a utility pole on the passenger side entrapping the driver and the front seat passenger.  Fire crews went right to work extricating the driver first and then the front seat passenger who was severely entrapped.  26 Command (Lt. Chris Smyth) requested two medical helicopters to transport the injured parties only to find all air units grounded due to weather conditions.  As additional resources arrived on scene they assisted with extrication and patient care.  Extrication of both patients was accomplished in under an hour.  Additional two back seat passengers were assessed at the scene by EMS crews from Hemlock Farms.  Units from Station 26 operated for 90 minutes on the scene.

 Accident Entraps One on Route 739

 

11-17-2007-  The volunteers from Station 26 were alerted at 20:44 hours for an accident with entrapment on Route 739 just north of Seneca Dr.  Crews manning 26 Rescue and Ambulances 268 & 269 arrived on scene to find a sedan had left the roadway and struck a tree entrapping the driver.  Crews made a quick removal of the drivers' side doors and roof to access the moderately injured driver.  After further assessing the driver a medical helicopter was requested to land at Log Tavern Rd. and Route 739 to transport her to a local trauma center.  26 Engine manned the landing zone for Life Flight III out of Avoca.  The Hemlock Farms Fire & Rescue Co. provided an additional ambulance to transport a passenger in the vehicle.  Crews were in service for 90 minutes.
