Structure Fire and Minutes Later an Accident

 

09-30-2007- Dingman Township Volunteers were dispatched at 17:11 hours for a reported structure fire on Hebula Rd. in Crescent Lake.  While volunteers were enroute to the firehouse to man the equipment, Station 26 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Log Tavern Rd. near Bond Ct.  26 Ladder and Ambulance 268 responded to the structure fire while 26 Rescue, 26 Engine, and Ambulance 269 reported to the accident.  Units arrived on the scene of the structure fire to find a light smoke condition in the basement of the residence.  Subsequent search of the residence with the thermal imaging camera found a washing machine motor had burned up causing the smoke condition.  Personnel secured the appliance and ventilated the basement.   Meanwhile, back at the accident scene crews found a SUV well into the woods with moderate front end damage.  Witnesses reported the occupant fled the scene in another car.  Crews checked for hazards and awaited the arrival of Pa. State Police.  No injuries were noted on either call.  Crews were in service for a total ½ hour.

 

Dingman Township Pulls In Stranded Boater

 

09-29-2007- Just after 10:30 this morning 26 Boat and 26 Rescue responded as part of the water rescue protocol for a stranded boater on McConnell Lake in Hemlock Farms.  Crews placed 26 Boat into the water and found the disabled pontoon on the opposite of the lake.  Crews secured a tow strap to the stranded boat and towed him safely back into his docking area.  No injuries were reported.  The boat was in service for 90 minutes.

 

Fire Alarm at Primary School

 

09-26-2007- Station 26 was dispatched at 13:19 hours to a reported fire alarm activation at the Dingman-Delaware Primary School.  26 Engine responded to the scene and arrived to find the school safely evacuated.  Upon investigating the cause of the alarm crews found smoke in the building.  After consulting with the custodial staff it was discovered that on the A/C units had malfunctioned causing the smoke condition.  Crews checked the area involved with the thermal imaging camera and found no further damage.  The crew then proceeded to ventilate the areas of the school that had smoke in it prior to the return of the students.  The crew cleared the school at 14:55 hours.

 

Construction Zone Crash

 

09-24-2007-  Shortly after Ambulance 269 was dispatched for an EMS call in Sunrise Lake, Ambulance 268 and 26 Rescue were dispatched to a three vehicle accident in a construction north of Lake Adventure on Route 739.  Crews arrived at the 12:04 p.m. incident to find a relatively minor three vehicle accident with one person suffering a minor injury.  Crews packaged and transported the patient to an area hospital.  The crew from Penn DOT that was working in the area assisted on scene with traffic.  Crews were in service for 35 minutes.

Late Night Accident on Route 739

 

09-19-2007-  Just after midnight crews were alerted to a motor vehicle accident just north of Lake Adventure on Route 739.  26 Engine, 26 Rescue, and Ambulance 269 made the response and arrived on scene to find a SUV had stuck a tree on the passenger’s side causing severe damage to the vehicle.  Luckily there was only the driver in the vehicle and he self extricated himself suffering only minor injuries.  Fire crews secured hazards and controlled traffic while the EMS crew tended to the driver.  Pa. State Police at Blooming Grove handled the investigation.  Units were in service for 50 minutes.

 

Kitchen Fire in Conashaugh Lakes

 

09-12-2007- Just before 1900 hours this evening the Volunteers of Station 26 were alerted to a reported kitchen on fire on Oneida Way in Conashaugh Lakes.  26 Ladder and Ambulance 268 made the response to the scene.  Crews arrived and found that a neighbor was able to extinguish the stove top grease fire.  The Ladder’s crew checked the involved area for extension using the thermal imaging camera and then proceeded to ventilate the house.  No injuries were reported on scene.  Crews were on scene for ½ hour.

 

Green House Fire in Woodlands

09-10-2007-  Crews were alerted at 13:21 hours to a possible structure fire on Blueberry Dr. in Pocono Woodlands.  26 Ladder arrived on scene to find a green house had caught fire and was smoldering.  Neighbors who spotted the fire secured the electric to the green house effectively stopping the fire.  Crews overhauled and checked for extension finding none, units returned at 14:13 hours
