Structure Fires Keep Station Moving
11-05-2006- 26 Engine was requested at 06:43 hours to stand-by in Milford’s firehouse while they assisted Montague NJ with a structure fire. The engine stood by with five firefighters for just under two hours. No additional calls were received while on stand-by. At 20:40 hours the volunteers were alerted to Blue Heron Lane in Conashaugh Lakes for a structure fire in a detached garage. Eighteen members manning 26 Ladder, 26 Engine, 26 Tanker, 26 Rescue, and Ambulances 268 & 269 made the response. As units arrived on scene they found the residents on the first floor of a two story, two bay garage engaged in an interior attack with a garden hose. Personnel removed the residents and replaced the garden hose attack with a preconnect off of 26 Ladder. Crews were able to quickly locate and extinguish the small fire on the second floor. Additional crews assisted with ventilation and overhaul. EMS crews assessed the residents for smoke inhalation. No injuries were reported by any firefighters. The cause of the fire has been ruled electrical in nature. Personnel operated for just over an hour on scene.
Log Tavern Rd. MVA
11-06-2006- Crews were dispatched at 22:09 hours for a reported vehicle accident with the vehicle involved reported smoking on Log Tavern Rd. near Crescent Lake. 26 Engine and Ambulance 269 made the response and arrived to find a full sized sedan head on into a tree with significant damage. Crews searched the surrounding area for the occupants of the vehicle without any success. Personnel remained on scene until the Pa. State Police arrived on scene to assume control of the accident.
Gold Key Rd. Rollover
11-12-2006- The firefighters received a break in the action the past week. The only call for the fire side of the station was a lift assist to Ambulance 269. The EMS crews remained steady as always answering nine medical emergencies. The short lived vacation for the firefighters ended at 02:33 hours when they were awakened for a reported motor vehicle accident on Gold Key Rd. near Ridge Drive. Crews arrived quickly to find a single vehicle rollover with the sole occupant out of the vehicle suffering very minor injuries. Personnel directed traffic and checked for hazards while Ambulance 269 treated the patient. Crews were in service for just under an hour.
EMS Crews Keep Busy
11-13-2006- Ambulances 268 & 269 were kept busy this afternoon with several emergencies. Ambulance 269 handled the first medical call in Conashaugh Lakes at 13:57 hours. Less than an hour later Ambulance 268 was dispatched to the High Point Country Club in Montague NJ for a medical call. The crew was assisted on scene by the Montague FD. Before returning home Ambulance 268 was once again sent into the Garden State this time to Rt. 23 near High Point State Park for a vehicle accident. The crew met up again with the firefighters from Montague FD and transported one patient to the hospital for assessment. As Ambulance 268 attempted to return home again they were diverted to Rt. 6&209 near Community Rental Center for a vehicle fire. The ambulance arrived and stood by while the Westfall FD extinguished the fire. No injuries were noted on scene. The overnight hours were not any quieter for the crews with each ambulance answering one call each.
Accidents Continue Too Keep Us Busy
11-14&16-2006- Another two accidents continue to the keep the volunteers busy. On Tuesday evening at 17:21 the heavy rescue was dispatched to assist the Delaware Fire Company with an overturned tractor trailer on Rt. 209 reported to be near Rt. 739. As 26 Rescue made the response, crews were updated to the location of the accident at Rt. 209 near Eshback Boat Launch in Lehman Township. 26 Rescue arrived on scene and stood by while an assessment of the scene was made by the officers of the Delaware and Bushkill Fire Companies. After a short time on scene Station 26 units were released. On Thursday evening at 17:34 hours crews were alerted during a heavy rain storm to a head on motor vehicle accident on Rt. 739 near Whispering Pine Nursery. Crews manning 26 Rescue and both Ambulances (268&269) arrived on scene to find a pick up truck and mini van collided head on. While EMS crews tended to the injured, firefighters controlled traffic and checked for hazards. The soak and wet volunteers operated for nearly 90 minutes during Thursday’s incident.
EMS Runs Continue
11-17 thru 20-2006- EMS crews continue to stay steady with personnel responding to six medical emergencies. The firefighters responded to a false alarm at the Dingman Delaware Middle School on Friday 11-17 and assisted Ambulance 269 Saturday morning (11-18) with lifting.
5 Mile Meadow Rd. Accident
11-20-2006- Dinner time seems to be the preference for car accidents month. At 17:19 hours Fire and EMS units were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on the 5 Mile Meadow Road. Crews arrived to find a pickup truck had struck several trees, rocks, and a metal gate. The sole human occupant suffered a minor head injury and was treated on the scene by Ambulance 269’s crew. The driver’s best friend appeared to be uninjured after being assessed. This was the fourth accident between 1700 and 1800 hours this month.
Thanksgiving Entrapment
11-23-2006- Crews were awakened at 02:53 hours for a vehicle into a tree on Rt. 739 just north of Lake Adventure’s entrance. Crews manning Ambulance 268, 26 Rescue, and 26 Engine arrived on the scene to find a sedan had struck a tree and the driver confined. Crews worked quickly in the cold rain to remove the roof of the vehicle and extricate the driver. Ambulance 268 transported the patient to a local hospital for treatment. Fire crews remained on scene until 04:51 hours while the Pa. State Police conducted their investigation.
Structure Fire in Gold Key
11-30-2006- At 07:25 hours an all too familiar dispatch for a structure fire in Gold Key Lake was announced. Seventeen volunteers manning 26 Ladder, 26 Engine, 26 Tanker, and Ambulance 268 responded to the call. Captain Contino was the first to arrive on scene and held the fire in check with a neighbor’s garden hose. As units arrived the fire was extinguished and overhauled. The Pa. State Police Fire Marshals were notified to investigate the fire. This is the tenth suspicious fire in a house under construction within the Gold Key development. The Pike County Builders Association along with the community has posted a $10,000 reward for information leading up to the arrest and conviction of individual(s) responsible for the fires.
