Members Build Trainer & Answer Alarm

10-31-2006-  Firefighters Anthony Neale and Joe DeMaio took time out of their schedules to build the station a roof mock-up on our storage trailer.  This prop will allow the department to practice the use of ground ladders, roof ladders, aerial positioning, and ventilation cuts.  Their work took the better part of the day with a small interruption to answer an automatic fire alarm on Sandy Pine Trail in Conashaugh Lakes.  26 Ladder made the 12:13 hours response with Firefighters Neale, DeMaio, Luciano, and A/C O’Brien.  The crew arrived on scene to find a carpet installer had activated the alarm while he was working and no fire dept. services were needed.  Crews cleared the scene quickly and the “day crew” went back to finishing up their project at the station.  Thank you, Anthony and Joe, for building this valuable training resource.

Suspicious Fire in Gold Key

10-26-2006-  Personnel were alerted for a now all to familiar alarm of a structure fire in a new construction in Gold Key Lake.  The original alarm was sounded at 00:52 hours bringing 26 Ladder, 26 Engine, 26 Tanker, 26 Rescue, and Ambulance 268 manned by 18 volunteers to the scene.  While responding to the scene Chief Mikulak requested the 2nd alarm for Box #26-04 which brought additional units from Delaware, Hemlock Farms, Milford, and Westfall Fire Departments.  Assistant Chief O’Brien arrived on scene to find a well involved two story residence in the construction phase.  The fire was also threatening the residence next door.  Due to the exposure problem an additional tanker each was requested from Blooming Grove and Shohola Fire Departments.  Crews deployed a handline to protect the exposure.  Additional personnel placed the ladder pipe and an additional handline in service on the fully involved structure and quickly knocked down the remaining fire.  Shortly after knocking down the bulk of the fire the OIC began returning incoming units.  No injuries were reported on scene.  The fire has been labeled suspicious and is under investigation by the Pa. Deer vs. Motorcyclist results in a Draw
