Vehicle Fire on Scene of Structure Fire

  

 01-03-2008-  As crews began pick up the supply line at the scene of the structure fire the operator of 26 Engine radioed command requesting assistance for a  vehicle on fire (snow plow) near his location.  Crews from Dingman Township and Milford Fire Departments halted packing the supply line and pulled two attack lines off of 26 Engine and quickly knocked the truck fire without incident.  The pick up truck involved suffered severe fire damage.  No injuries were reported.

  Working House Fire in Pocono Woodlands

 

01-03-2008- For the 2nd Thursday in a row Dingman Township personnel were out in the Pocono Woodlands fighting a structure fire.  Shortly, after 1900 hours Dingman Township’s Fire Police Captain Henry Levine was leaving his residence when he noticed his neighbor’s house on fire near the roofline and placed a call to 9-1-1.  With the report of an active fire Chief Mikulak (26-1) requested the 2nd alarm be filled out for Box 26-05.  Assistant Chief O’Brien arrived on scene at 19:08 hours and reported the chimney chase and the eaves near the chase on fire.  During the size up it was discovered that a female resident (owner) and her infant daughter were still inside the residence unaware of the fire.  The residents were evacuated without incident.  Crews from Dingman Township were the first to arrive and with the assistance of Assistant Chief Vallis of the Milford Fire Department placed two hand lines in service and quickly knocked the bulk of the fire.  Crews from Dingman Township and Milford Fire Departments worked together to place the fire under control.  Personnel from Hemlock Farms arrived a short time later and relieved the first in crews from Stations 26 & 33.  Tankers from Dingman Township, Milford, Shohola, and Westfall Fire Departments provided water supply as needed.  An engine from the Westfall Fire Department set up fill site operations at the Pocono Woodlands Pond.  No injuries were reported on the scene and the cause of the fire was ruled accidental.  Hemlock Farms (29 Ladder) and Delaware (28 Tanker) Fire Companies stood by at the Dingman Township Firehouse during the incident.  Dingman Township had 27 personnel and 6 apparatus operating on scene for nearly 3 hours.  Special thanks to Pa. Dept. of Transportation and the Pocono Woodlands Maintenance Dept. for provided anti skid on the scene and at the fill site.

 

 Stolen Vehicle Recovery

 

01-26-2008-  The Dingman Township FD’s Ice Rescue Team was dispatched to assist the Shohola Police and Fire Departments with the recovery of a stolen vehicle on Twin Lakes.  The crew arrived on scene and searched the vehicle for possible occupants.  After confirming the vehicle was unoccupied the crew then assisted the tow truck operator with hooking up the vehicle and removing it from the lake.  Dingman Township’s personnel operated for nearly two hours during the incident.
