2010 Year in Review

01-01-2011- Today
we take some time to reflect on the past year at the Dingman Township
Volunteer Fire Department.
January and February saw 26 Engine responding to several structural fires in
Delaware
Township.
The Engine was on automatic response for Delaware while their
Rescue and Engine 1 were in the shop being repaired.
March saw the beginning of the Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) era
in Pike
County.
In April the department began the process to upgrade our apparatus
with the purchase of the new 26 Ladder, a 2009 Smeal, and another ambulance,
a 2009 Osage. In June the 1996
E-one ladder truck saw it’s last run, an auto alarm at the middle school..
The old truck was sold to Sarver Pa.
where it continues to serve.
June 12th the new ladder truck made it’s first response to a
working fire. In July the dive
team successfully retrieved a distraught male from Culver’s Lake in
Frankford
NJ and brought him back to shore
for medical treatment. In
August we celebrated the arrival of the new ladder truck with a wetdown
attended by all of the “Southside” departments.
September saw the first use of the new aerial on an incident. The
crew went to work performing roof ops at a chimney fire with the Milford FD.
November the ladder truck assisted the National Park Service with removing a
hiker who had become stuck on the cliff side off of Rt. 209.
December saw several working structure fires in which multiple crews
from the station were put to work.
The dedicated Dingman
Township volunteers were alerted for
1213 (364 fire/849 EMS) incidents in 2010.
This total was an all time high for the department.
We would like to thank everyone who supported the department in 2010.
Through fundraising, outstanding municipal support, and state grants
we are able to continue to provide the community with exceptional service.
We wish you all a healthy and safe 2011!
